They say so, yes, and that makes a lot of sense.
We should be able to draw power from any and all storage devices.
Those systems should be compatible and interconnected.
In my opinion, neighbors should even be able to share energy.
Like say something breaks down at my place, I could call Fred next door to light me up while I wait for repairs.
When I think of the number of people that die each winter from a lack of heat, that ability would save lives.
I had to wait a couple of days to get a furnace blower motor. A senior could try to hunker down and end up freezing to death in that time.

It's good that you did.
Unfortunately, if the power lines are down, electric space heaters wouldn't be of any use, and fuel heaters are dangerous indoors. If we all had storage cells, we could always tap into those.
Storage cells coupled with outdoor generators would really do the trick. I like the idea of redundant backup systems.
