I believe different types will always have different cures.
My doctor had thyroid cancer. God bless him. I believe he was saved to help others. He survived stage four cancer with an experiential procedure. He feels guilty about it because most in the studied died.
My doctor is one of the most brilliant and compassionate people I have been blessed to know.
He helps people every day and deserves to live a long life. He should not feel guilty. In one week he does more good than many do in a life time.
Cancer must be cured. No decent human should die from cancer. I am so tried of hearing about cancer. I pray daily my family and I never get cancer.

Yes, it does, and it's good to hear about projects like this.
It seems to me that a lot more sharing of data is happening now than ever before. I'm thinking that the internet might be partly responsible for that. It's a whole lot easier to share information now.

Your Dr. sounds like a good man suffering from survivor's guilt.
People shouldn't reflect on their lives regarding being worthy of good fortune. They should just focus on paying it forward. They'll be happier, and everyone benefits.

I know.... Easier said than done. But once you get started, you'll be too busy looking forward and to the now to look back.

Like pretty much everything else, money calls the shots in research too. Unless the researcher happens to be independently rich and funds it him or herself.
You've been lucky to have a lot of good guys around in your life.

The problem is that hard working researchers can be ripped off.
My doctor is a survivor and I am too. He is has a fairly high functioning autistic brother that refuses his help. The brother is angry, hostile and unappreciative. He is higher functioning than my son but poorly adjusted. Since their mother, sister passed my doctors tries to help him and also another schizophrenic brother. My doctor pays insurance for both his disabled brothers.
My doctor also has an engineer brother who lives update. This brother recently lost his wife and had a stroke but, thank God he is recovering. My doctor helps them all. I wish he was part my family. He is the type of person I would invite for dinner. He is a brilliant, kind man with big heart. That is how my father in law was. I miss my father and my father in law.
