It sounds like they'll ban the sale of new gasoline powered cars, so they'll fade out of the picture.
China isn't the only one doing it, either.
We had better get with the program so we don't get left behind.
We can't stagnate to satisfy the fossil fuel industry.
We need to retrain workers for the changing World.

That, and for economic and political reasons are why they're doing it.
China sees the advantage in being a world leader in clean energy technology. It's the future... They know it.... And they want to be empowered by it.
America used to be the innovation and technology capitol of the world, and they, China, want that status for themselves.
In my view, it isn't wise to waste resources propping up a dying fossil fuel industry, or to imply, for the sake of votes, that we're going to bring back coal jobs.
Facing facts, education, and retraining is what we should be pushing, rather than pretending workers can go on doing what they've done for generations. That's just pandering and does those workers, and the Country, a disservice.
Sure, we have to make the transition as easy as possible for those workers, but lying to them isn't the answer.
