Legislation and regulations are certainly the right moves, but the simple truth is, if your information is on a computer that is connected to the internet, it's not secure.
That won't significantly change until we have quantum computers. And even then, it'll be temporary.
I know many will join in a law suit against Facebook. I don't know how that will all play out.
As for Zuckerberg, I haven't liked him since he said he was considering giving up his US citizenship to avoid taxes. I thought... Fine. We'll help ya pack.
As for the political content on Facebook; they closed accounts that were identified as being accounts operated by a Russian propaganda agency. That action wasn't about political points of view. Facebook is crawling with both GOP and Democrat supporters. Which includes Trump, Clinton, Obama, Sanders, Stein... etc. etc. etc.
It's the agents of hostile foreign governments that have been targeted for removal, no matter what they said or about who. Once they're identified via IP addresses or associations with these hostile nations, they get the axe.
