Should we take the risk of using stem cells before clinincal, triple blind studied document they do more good than harm?

I ask this rhetorically because common sense dictates the logical answer is no. I believe stem cells are a significant part of regenerative medicine and in the future will change life's for the better. I wouldn't do anything before reading about clinical studies in which it worked well. I am not sure how much the women who told me about a horrible failure actually knows. She claims stem cells were used to cure Macular degeneration and a women is now blind. God help her and find a means to restore her sight.
We read something on this yesterday, but I could not find it.
My optomolgist said the Bionic lense would properly work but, do I really want more surgery? I need to speak with many people who had great results and have a surgeon I trust.
I pray I never have macular degeneration and that they find a cure. The real problem is to many greedy surgeons.

Fixed.

Of course you're right, no.
The results of clinical trials, legitimate ones, and success rates in the "real world" need to be considered.
You've told me about your condition, and I'm not sure what a bionic lens would do for you.
Your condition is in another part of the eye.
For example: If a movie screen has some sort of a flaw, messing around with the projector isn't going to help. The screen needs to be fixed or replaced.
Remember, though. I'm not a Dr., so I really don't know what's what.
If it were me, I'd want several opinions from medical professionals.
When it comes to medical procedures, trial and error isn't a good MO.

OK.... I get what you mean. You're referring to a cataract, not the other issue. I wouldn't think any kind of a lens would change that.

You can not have the bionic lense in an eye that had cataract surgery and new lens. They claim that the Bionic lense can be adjusted until you see perfectly and no longer need glasses.
