If we're to have computers and robots that can interact with us, AI does have to be developed.
There's really no way of getting around that fact.
I just worry about machines taking initiatives that cause harm in some way, and/or machines becoming self aware.
They say they have ethics panels in place, but I've never known corporations to be very ethical.
I think we need government oversight, and strict, enforceable regulations, along with independent government oversight. Independent because we can't trust the corporate stooges in Washington to do the right thing either.
Right now they're pulling the teeth of regulatory agencies and oversight committees.
They say it's in the interest of smaller government. That's not true.
It's in the interest of corporations. They want to be let off the leash to be free to do whatever they want.
